FOVISSSTE plans to build at least 4,000 homes in Nuevo León as part of Mexico’s Housing for Well-Being program, ABC Noticias reported on September 15. The fund has returned to direct construction after 34 years.
The Nuevo León figure is a target, not a construction start: ABC Noticias said no specific development, municipality or timetable has been identified yet. The state program includes more than 80,000 homes across FOVISSSTE, Infonavit and Conavi.
4,000 FOVISSSTE homes inside an 80,000-home target
The state breakdown cited by ABC Noticias assigns 67,000 homes to Infonavit, 10,000 to Conavi and 4,000 to FOVISSSTE. Potential locations named for other housing projects include Juárez, Ciénega de Flores, Pesquería, Cadereyta, Escobedo, Sabinas Hidalgo, García and Linares.
600,000 homes contracted nationwide
Mexico Business News reported that the national program had contracted roughly 600,000 homes, with 207,000 under construction across 766 active projects carrying MX$75.08 billion in investment. That national progress does not yet identify the Nuevo León projects.
