At the preview of ENCLELAC 2026, officials and industry leaders said demand for chillers and related equipment is filling manufacturers' order books, with some capacity committed for the next two years.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 19 at Cintermex in Monterrey. Milenio reports that it is expected to connect more than 60 buyers and 800 participants, with a business and investment opportunity pool above US$3 billion. The useful read-through is that data-center growth is creating work for an existing local manufacturing base, not just for the campuses themselves.
Why it matters
Nuevo León already has the industrial depth to make the demand meaningful: the sector counts roughly 345 companies and 35,000 jobs. Industry leaders say the state represents 40% of Mexico’s appliance exports, worth about US$4.2 billion, while total appliance production for domestic and export markets reaches about US$6 billion in Nuevo León.
The overlap is practical. Data centers need cooling systems, chillers and energy-efficient equipment that share components and supply chains with traditional appliances. Milenio reports that 20% to 30% of cluster companies have already incorporated automation, with the rest in transition.
The other side
Steel and aluminum tariffs have already pressured manufacturers, according to Baldwin Britton of the Nuevo León appliance cluster. Higher regional-content requirements could pull more purchases toward Mexican suppliers, but they also raise the bar on cost, technology and delivery reliability.

The Aug. 19 meeting is the next checkpoint. The question is whether the capacity commitments described by officials turn into specific equipment orders and plant expansions — and whether the US$3 billion opportunity pool produces a durable local supply chain.
