Nuevo León is set to receive MX$339 million from the federal government to compensate for lower revenue-sharing payments in the second quarter of 2026. The money will come through the Fondo de Estabilización de los Ingresos de las Entidades Federativas, or FEIEF.
The state Treasury said the transfer could arrive as soon as September, after the Finance Ministry completes its current mechanisms for strengthening the fund. El Norte separately reported that the state Treasury expects to receive the MX$339 million this month.
Why it matters
This is a cash-flow story rather than a new spending package. The transfer restores part of the money Nuevo León expected under the federal-state revenue-sharing system and should give the state more room to sequence payments and planned obligations.
The state says the funds will be distributed according to the Fiscal Coordination Law once they reach the state treasury. Because the shortfall affected states more broadly, the timing of the payment matters as much as the headline amount.
What to watch
The next checkpoint is when the transfer clears and how the state allocates it across its own accounts and municipal obligations. That will show whether the payment eases the pressure visible in the early outline of the 2027 budget.
