Nuevo León Secretary General Miguel Ángel Flores Serna said current water works should keep the Monterrey metropolitan area supplied in the short and medium term, with Presa Libertad expected to add supply in 2027.

Flores credited El Cuchillo II and Presa Libertad as part of that response. El Horizonte reports the reservoir is still filling and that water had not yet needed to be drawn from it.

The official's outlook does not close the planning question. He said investment attraction and urban growth are bringing new residents and increasing demand for basic services, so hydraulic infrastructure work needs to continue.
