The Comisión Federal de Electricidad says it has maintained its infrastructure in Monterrey’s Barrio Antiguo for the past month, after neighbors and merchants protested recent power cuts. CFE attributed the latest failures to a storm the previous Saturday and a leak, according to El Norte.

The business read-through is straightforward: the fix is being measured at the storefront. Reporte Índigo says merchants describe one or two outages a week, with water entering electrical registers during rain and temporary closures creating losses for restaurants and other local businesses.

The maintenance CFE says it completed

A CFE operation reported by MVS Noticias includes cable replacement, a transformer replacement and improvements to the local network. El Norte reports that the utility says the work began about a month ago; the immediate explanation for the most recent interruptions was the combination of storm damage and a leak.

Why drainage is part of the power story

Merchants told Reporte Índigo that the recurring problem is not only the outage itself. They described drainage failures that flood CFE registers with wastewater during rain, leaving businesses with interruptions, service bills and operating losses even after crews return.
