The Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) says its extraordinary maintenance and modernization program for the Monterrey metropolitan area is 79% complete, based on a September 11 progress report.
The work is aimed at the distribution network serving a metro area where residential growth sits alongside commercial and industrial demand. The remaining field work is scheduled to continue through September, October and November.
519 circuits reviewed before the field program
CFE reviewed 519 circuits during June and July before starting the extraordinary operating program. The utility says the work includes replacing 942 poles, changing 3,208 insulators, addressing 1,038 damaged fittings and pruning 31,157 trees near the network.
Three mobile substations now in operation
The utility has normalized 38 of 42 out-of-service switches, reviewed 194 protection schemes and completed 2,215 priority jobs on sub-transmission lines, an 82% advance in that workstream. Three mobile substations are operating at Juárez Norte, Real de Palmas and Valle del Roble.
