Mexico's 700-Billion-Peso Rail Plan Includes Nuevo León

An estimated MXN 700 billion is attached to a 2,500-km national program that includes a passenger route through Nuevo León; neither report assigns the state a separate budget or local start date.

On October 31, President Claudia Sheinbaum described a federal rail program aiming for 2,500 kilometers of track with an estimated MXN 700 billion in investment. Its Mexico City–Nuevo Laredo passenger route would pass through Nuevo León, according to Expansión and El Horizonte.

For Monterrey, the reported local connection is the route, not a state-level investment commitment. Neither article breaks out Nuevo León's share of the national estimate or sets a construction date for the Nuevo Laredo segment.

The 32% construction figure is for Mexico City–Querétaro

El Horizonte said construction of the Mexico City–Querétaro section had reached 32%, with 90% of its right of way secured. Those figures are for that section, not progress on the Nuevo Laredo corridor through Nuevo León.

Expansión's breakdown puts 2,200 km of planned track toward passenger service and 300 km toward freight. Those are national program totals; the route through Nuevo León has no separate allocation in the two reports.
