The draft 2027 federal budget assigns MX$41,985.8 million to the Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo passenger train, a 363.1-kilometer corridor that includes three proposed stations in the Monterrey area, according to BNamericas and El Horizonte.

For Nuevo León, the practical detail is the route: the project connects the Saltillo terminal with Nuevo Laredo and lists intermediate stops at Santa Catarina, Monterrey Centro and Monterrey Norte. Milenio also reported the MX$41,985 million allocation in its review of the federal spending proposal.

Three proposed stations in the Monterrey area

The proposed 2027 allocation is 191.9% above the MX$14,386 million approved for the project in the 2026 budget, El Horizonte reported. The document is a draft budget, so the allocation still sits inside the federal approval process.

BNamericas described Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo as the largest of six new passenger-line projects in the proposal. The corridor would place Santa Catarina and the Monterrey metropolitan area inside a rail investment that also reaches the Laredo trade route.
