Simeprode stopped Monterrey and Apodaca garbage trucks from entering its landfill on Sept. 28, citing unpaid service fees; the municipalities said they arranged an interim alternative at Red Ambiental’s CIPRES facility.
Monterrey disputed the debt claim. Milenio reported that the city listed eight payments from July 9 through Sept. 9, while El Norte reported the administration’s claim that it had paid more than MX$37.8 million.
Milenio said the temporary arrangement at CIPRES would continue until further notice under equivalent operational, distance and financial conditions. Simeprode’s explanation was an unpaid balance; Monterrey said it was current on payments.
