Nuevo León will add two fixed air-quality monitoring stations, one in the south of the metropolitan area near Carretera Nacional and another in the Valle de Salinas, state Environment Secretary Raúl Lozano said.
The expansion takes the Sistema Integral de Monitoreo Ambiental from 15 to 17 fixed stations, alongside two mobile units. The state says the locations reflect population growth in the south and the rapidly developing municipalities of Salinas, Ciénega, Zuazua and El Carmen.
The Carretera Nacional location is not final
Officials have not yet settled whether the southern station will sit inside Monterrey or in Santiago. The network upgrade follows a reported MX$20 million state investment in the monitoring system and is intended to broaden coverage where new housing and industrial activity are concentrating.
